What We Do
WORSHIP
Worship services are held every Sunday morning throughout the year. In addition to the regularly scheduled Sunday services, the congregation observes special days such as Ash Wednesday and Christmas Eve with special services. The church also participates in the ecumenical Good Friday service, and we worship on the Court House lawn with the members of the United Methodist Church on the Sunday nearest July 4.
The usual Sunday morning service consists of the preaching of the Word of God, the offering of prayers and the singing of hymns. Several choirs, including the Adult Choir, Youth Choir, Good News Singers, Cherub Choir, Youth and Senior Bell choirs and Elementary Hand chimes choir, add to the richness of the services.
The sacraments of the Lord's Supper and baptism are celebrated several times during the year.
MUSIC
Music is a very important part of the worship service. It broadens and deepens the worship experience for many.

EDUCATION
Christian Education is another important part to the life of the church. Education opportunities are provided for people of all ages.
Sunday School is offered on Sundays at 11:30 a.m. following
Worship. There are classes for Kindergarten through Adult. For our younger members, there is a staffed nursery
during Worship and through the Sunday School hour.
Of course, a variety of Adult offerings are available. Sunday School really is for ALL AGES. You are never too young, or too old, to attend Sunday School and grow in faith!
FELLOWSHIP
Fellowship is also critical to the children and youth of God's church. We have strong youth programs that have much to offer young people.
Fellowship comes in many forms at Mason First. Here are just a few of the fellowship opportunities available:
-
Fellowship Hour every Sunday immediately following the service
-
Senior High Youth Group (Cornerstone) meetings and activities usually once per week. Variety of activities and outings including mission work, lock-ins, fundraisers, and fun.
-
Middle School Youth Group (Stepping Stones) meetings/activities usually twice per month.
-
Wednesday night dinners for the whole family (suspended for the Summer).
-
Men's Association activities.
-
Women's Association activities and circles Parish Life sponsored activities such as the Progressive Dinner and Family Camp.
-
Sunday School classes and study groups. Deacon sponsored activities and events.
MISSIONS
Mission work is strongly encouraged and supported within our youth groups. It is also encouraged among the adults of our church. Giving is receiving, and we find much joy in doing God's work.
Give a gift of hope: Shelter and Warmth
Special days and special times in your life are a great time to share and give hope. A gift to the TOOLS OF HOPE & BLANKET program will make a difference in the lives of children and families next door and around the world.
When thousands lost their homes in Southern Africa due to heavy rains and flooding, gifts to TOOLS OF HOPE & BLANKET program helped provide blankets and temporary shelters to those who lost their homes. Many uprooted from their homes during the war in Kosovo were helped when Church World Service helped provide blankets and tents to refugees. Whatever the cause, natural or human-made, the primary needs are the same --food, clean water, blankets, and shelter to provide protection from the elements.
A gift of at least $5 will provide a blanket, $15 will provide enough plastic sheeting for a family, and $175 will purchase a tent. Your gift to the TOOLS OF HOPE & BLANKET program helps Church World Service prepare for the storm... give HOPE!
